Yet here we are. Unfortunately still facing this situation at the end of 2022. One of my personal traditions is to pause every December and take some moments to reflect on the year that has just passed. When thinking about your actions, your resilience and your courage, I am in awe and feel so proud to be associated with you.
At Accor, we are proud to call our teams Heartists – everything that you have done this year, is nothing but the pure definition of being a Heartist.
Right in the middle of this conflict you have spent your time and energy to serve our guests, to look after each other, to make all of them feel welcome and to protect locals and travelers alike as much as possible. In 2022, I am grateful for having had the chance to learn from you and as I said many times on the calls, despite me wanting to motivate you, it was you all who motivated all of us. Your passion, dedication, commitment and belief is unbelievable, despite all the terrible challenges.
As you might know, I have agreed to take on a new challenge outside of Europe within Accor. Today, I would like to assure you, I will continue to follow your initiatives and whenever there is anything I can do for any of you, I am only a phone call away.
I will also promise that as soon as we can I will fly to Kiev and it will be an honor to meet all of you in person.
Please stay strong and stay safe.

As we are approaching this new year, I wanted to send my few words to express compassion, thoughts and admiration.
Your courage is second to none. Your determination is exemplary and your love for your country is an example for us all.
This year seems like a nightmare to all of you and most of the world, friends of Ukraine. But thanks to your courage and fight, you showed the world that hate, violence and despotism can’t prevail on love, devotion and positive patriotism. I lived in Kiev in 2013 to 2014. I have lived Maidan and the second orange revolution.
I have suffered, cried, laughed and celebrated with you. I loved your country, the warmth of its people, the hope of a new generation… I called your country home.
I share your suffer and will always defend you, if not in actions, at least in words, thoughts of prayers. Thank you for the fight for freedom! Thank you for showing the way! Thank you for sacrifice!

My grandfather having raised me, retired from the Airforce after being in 3 different wars. I grew up listening to stories, dreams, & nightmares all from his prospective.
He always had wise words after every story he told. His words of wisdom ring in my soul, "never give up", and "things that are worth fighting for are never going to be easy, it will take long hours, good leadership, and a lot of elbow grease".
As it is now a new age, and new weapons, war is still just as bad. My sincere and deepest condolences on everything you all are going through.
My hope, is that this message reaches whomever it can, never stop fighting, things that are worth fighting for are never going to be easy and keep enduring.

I left Ukraine after I had spent a month on the occupied territory.
I know what explosions sound like. I know what Russian soldiers act like.
Every day I wake up and fall asleep messaging my family and checking news.
Hold on, my wonderful people! You are amazing! Be patient and hopeful!

Prudent actions strengthen our resolve to persevere in a time of hardship. Temperate measures stand by, while the distillation of spirits churn in the wake. Hope releases the reins of hatred and anger. These are all familiar, but well worn aphorisms and in times of peace we can appreciate the wisdom that gets stuck to the bottom of our shoes. Unfortunately that can all quickly change without a moments notice when we fail to keep watch on the things that should matter most.
The journey of hope can seem indistinguishable as the escaping atmospheric patterns of geometry forges an intricate pattern upwards into the sky
We look up with envy to a place of higher ground, and bear a heavy burden in the symbol of a cross to remember that we were are all bonded by one canoe and a cedar paddle for the journey. There is a west coast indigenous community of the Haida Gwaii and the Coast Salish seas that believe that we are all united by one canoe. Instead of trade which brings unity we are driven instead by greed. We define our lives by defying gravity either by fight or the fight for the better view and complain to customer support when things didn’t turn out as we expected.
We reveal our fortitude and inevitably end up on a race to the bottom. What does it mean when the people whom we put in power we follow rather stoically to the rack for pillage and plunder? I had a message from my workplace to compose some thought or share a picture for our fellow colleagues in the Ukraine who are suffering during this worst of all possible outcomes that can breach the hermetic seal of society while hoping for a future of solidarity.
Sadly, I am stricken by the thought that the same efforts that build a community can as quickly destroy it. In the culinary world, mushrooms can be prepared in a variety of ways to suit the most discriminating of palates and contrary to popular opinion they serve an important role in ecology and are not a blight in forest, but their roots protect the forest floor and bring unity to diversity. Just as the cedar paddle guides us on our journey, so to does the discriminating palate strive to bear witness to the careful preparation of good taste.
There is nothing to mitigate the actions that have taken hold of the people in the Ukraine and pray for peace.
